Speaker upgrades

You mean the front door speakers, right? I used the Metra 82-8149. Worked perfectly, at least with the 6x9 Infinitys.
And, you need to have these adapters (or something similar).

but i'm confused with the front door speaker brackets.
When i search specifically for lexus es, i get:
This is the 82-8146
and the one you listed is the 82-8149
i might order both from amazon and see which one fits better, and return the other one.

if i can do it, anyone can do it. i'm that bad at DIY on cars. Every time i remove a trim piece, it never ever fits the way it came from factory.
But those dash speakers need to be replaced ASAP. the difference is that substancial, it is worth it.

yes, front doors. i'm aware of the speaker harness, which is a direct fit.

If you don't find anyone with a leftover, send me a PM and maybe we can order a pair together and split the cost. I've also only ordered one pair so far, so need one for the center.

But, if anyone would like any of the original dash speakers, or the original rear door speakers, PM me.

This has to be the best upgrade/modification for this model. I completed the corner dash speakers in under an hour thanks to you gents.
The new sound is so much clearer and fuller! And I did it with some unconventional tools around the house.
The sides were easy to snip!
Was extra careful here.
The stock speaker feels like an alarm clock speaker, light as a feather.

i poked one of the stock speaker's cone just for fun, it bended inwards....LOL
i swear it was the slightest of touches. what a piece of *****.
don't you love how the vocals sound in music now? Enjoy!

As much as I dont want to even bother tinkering with the car anymore, you guys are making it sound like this is so worth it. I shall revisit this when i have time

I'm intrigued by this relatively simple speaker upgrade thread. In my case, however, I have a 2013 ES350 UL - therefore with the Mark Levinson sound system. Would I be right in assuming that I would find higher quality speakers in my dash and therefore would not find a benefit in replacing them? Thanks.

I did the speaker update today for my family's es350 and had someone sit in it. The first reaction was the sound was cleaner and full, no surprise there. However they mentioned it lacked bass which didn't make it sound too good :egads. So now making the audio improvement showed there was not enough bass and now I need to add a sub to the car. On my Sonata which has a really good sound system the front door speakers provide the bass (in addition to a small factory sub in the back) and the dash speakers are used for vocal and sound. Changing the front door speakers would be the easiest in terms of plug and play. Anyone have any advice? Should I tackle the front door speakers or would a sub me more suited? I'm not looking for a ton of bass just enough to make little more punch. Thanks.

Also installed the front two corner speakers today, and definitely noticed more clarity. I used a plier to twist the extra mounting points back and forth till they broke off. I also do notice a bigger lack of bass than before but I think it's still better overall for sure! Debating buying another pair and doing the center, but not sure if it's worth the cost.

I did not do A/B sounds tests for only the center, when I changed my center, so I cannot prove that it makes a difference. But, visually looking at the old junky center makes me think the new one has to make some difference.
