Mobil one now has oil that lasts for 20,000 miles or one year...

I have seen those Jugs and bottles but I am not going to use them. If the manual recommends oil change at 10,000 miles, that is what I am going to follow. Actually what I am doing at this point is use the Mobile 1 EP 0W20 and change my oil at 7000-8000 miles. but this is just me.

I change my oil every ~1k miles. That's all I've been driving the ES per year, for the past 4 years. I need oil that can last more time, not miles.

This might be useful to someone who drives 20k miles a year. I don't, so plan to continue doing the 10k/one year change schedule...

Not sure if the Lexus maintenance manual states this, but I know Honda does... if enough miles aren't driven to hit the service interval, change it yearly...

I've gone from 1K oil changes to 3K, 5K and 10K but I'm not sure I'm ready for 20K. I drive about 10K miles per year so it works out well. I'm old enough to have even been afraid to use "synthetic oil" early on.

I have to question whether or not a person who can afford to purchase a new Lexus (ES or any other model) can't afford an annual oil change (annual based on 10K miles per year) or perhaps semi annual if they're a high mileage driver (20K miles a year is quite a lot)...so bottom line here is to open your purse strings a little if you truly plan on keeping your Lexus a long time. What, you may ask, is my personal situation...well, I put an average of 4K miles per year on my ES350 and have my Lexus dealer change the oil on or very close to the oil change anniversary date each year, regardless of how many miles I've put on the car.

Amsoil lasts for 1 year or 25,000 miles!
