Default Is this a legitimate offer?

I have a 2014 ESh. I got a letter today on Lexus letterhead but with a return address of Toyota of North America, 1588 Woodridge Av, Ann Arbor, MI. If I google that address, Toyota Research & Development shows up.

Toyota has contracted some company by the name of SGS North America, and they would like my car for 1-2 weeks to do dynamometer testing on it. They will put 100 - 150 miles on it. In return they will:
- Give me $200 incentive check.
- Free use of a Lexus loaner.
- Full tank of gas.
- The usual wash, vac and windows.
- Genuine Lexus parts if they find a problem.

I do not really like people messing with my car. I would think about it if they offered $500 but for $200, I do not know..

Has anybody else got a similar offer?

Zes.. I won't say that it's not legit, but I wouldn't do it.. I can't see letting them have a car that costs somewhere from 43K to 50K for a week for a paltry $200.00 Just not worth it to me.

Sounds like the "incentive" check would only be good on a future Toyota Corp. purchase... That's no incentive to release your car to a bunch of unknown people for two weeks...
They wouldn't get my car for $200. or $2000. Forget it... And why only your car?

This is probably legit. Car companies have done this many times before - especially if they have the government going after them claiming their vehicles don't meet emissions or fuel economy requirements. I personally would like a little more than $200 in credits, a tank of fuel and a loaner vehicle.

If this is legit I would ask more questions. How is it going to be tested? is it going to be in a lab for 2 weeks, or is it going to be driven on the road. I don't like strangers driving my car for 2 weeks.

Well that's the whole thing. Too many loose ends. They're saying 150-200 miles. And a lousy $200.00 "incentive". What BS is that? I got your incentive right here...No one cares for your car like you, the owner... No way Jose...

If this offer is legitimate and knowing exactly what they going to do on your car, such as total inspection and replace needed parts to retain optimum performance then I will favor this offer.

Although the site looks legitimate, I agree with you all. If the car comes back with an issue I will always wonder how they abused it, and it will always nag me. $200 and a tank of gas is not worth the hassle.

I had returned their card and checked the 'no thanks' box the first time and the creepy thing is that they sent me the invitation again.

What part of 'no' don't they understand?

It is either that this is not a legitimate offer coming from Toyota or they sent the second card before they received your response.
