Charging the hybrid’s 12v battery
I’m looking for a way to keep my ESh 12v battery charged when the vehicle is not used for one or more weeks. Battery maintainer requires trunk access, leaving trunk ajar, light on, etc. Is there any other option, like cig. lighter receptacle? Thanks for ideas!

I have two hybrids and routinely leave one sit for a month or more and have never had an issue. That said, I imagine the battery tender is a reasonable option/precaution and I assume you could just pull the trunk light while on the tender.

I have a Black and Decker with an adapter that lets you charge it through the 12v socket inside the car.
Here is an example:
I use the 6 amp one though, but this one works as well!

the 12v in the hybrid isn't used to start the vehicle, it is only used for the radio, windows and other misc. electrical items, and it gets charged when the car is running.. no need to trickle charge it while not driving the car, as it won't be used to start your vehicle and unless there is some odd patristic drain, it won't be in use while the car is off.

The trunk opening seals will easily close on a trickle charger cord, hook it up and close
the lid on the wire. While the 12v battery does not start the IC motor in the same way
as conventional cars do it does need enough juice to trigger the relays so the 288v
traction battery can do the actual cranking. Power outlets are switched, Caydoc is
correct, plug in charger would not be connected.
