accessing and replacing the 12volt battery for the 2013 es300H
Just preparing for possible car failures on my 2013 es300H hybrid.
I understand the 12volt battery is in the trunk, is it easy to access and replace by myself ?
a few searches on this forum says I need a AGM 12v battery, but I'm thinking anything that fits will work.
any thoughts ? thanks

pretty sure it is the same as the Camry Hybrid, so it is in the trunk right side behind a designated plastic panel and is easy to get too. Not likely to need one though, our 2007 Camry Hybrid's OEM AGM battery lasted 10 years, the 12v battery in a Hybrid is not used for starting the motor so it never had heavy loads placed on it, it is only for the internal electronics and infotainment system.
As for the type battery needed, Stick with AGM, due to the location and mounting you DO NOT want a lead-acid battery there. Sears DieHard makes a nice AGM that fits, and has a 6 year warranty.

You are not going to find one that is officially endorsed by Sears as they don't have a side vent to fit the hose that exits your trunk.
Your best bet is to measure your exiting battery and look online for one that closely fits those dimensions, just be sure it is an AGM Sealed battery and you will be fine.
Our battery doesn't crank over the engine, it more of an auxiliary 12 volt battery that boots up the electronic control modules for the "Ready" mode in addition to the 12v accessories, lights and such. The 12v is charged by the HV Battery not an alternator... even the A/C runs off the HV Battery pack. The 12v battery has a relatively easy life with the Lexus/Toyota Synergy Hybrid System.
