Just pondering the question, does anyone think I could get a base model 2018 for 37500 otd? I don't need bells and whistle just a nice reliable car that I will keep for many years. Your thoughts?

OTD pricing is not a comparable thing. Look at the pricing thread for a good idea of what you can expect off of MSRP.

 

 

If you can wait a few weeks, at some point in May, Lexus should be starting its 2nd best sales event of the year. Even better, around the middle of the summer is when, in addition to bigger advertised rebates, dealers will start to get significant unadvertised incentives from Lexus to help them start to clear out their remaining 2018 model year inventory. Typically, late August or early September is the sweet spot when pricing should be at its lowest and there is still a nice selection of cars from remaining inventory. With the Generation 7 ES soon to be announced, I would expect that there should be very attractive rebates and pricing for the 2018 ES.

 

2019 ES pics are out. It is being released in 4 days in China. I imagine 2018 being the old design, will be seriously blown out by dealers.

Our family bought a 15 RX when the new ones came out online. They got $12,000 off MSRP to get the old design.

new member here! I'll be turning in a 2015 ES lease very soon and am looking to purchase a 2018 in the coming days. Curious if there is any updated advice to this thread. I am also reviewing the 2017 pricing thread and the larger ES pricing thread for tips.

Bought my new '17 ES350 base (no options or accessories whatsoever) on 8/31/17 at $35,200 OTD in N. Cal.
MSRP $39,895 - $5200 dealer discount + 8.625% sale tax + Lic./Doc fee - $3,000 Lexus cash. Used my local credit union, locked in 1.49% for 60 months.
Could have kept my 08 100K miles Avalon for a few more years but just couldn't refuse that deal. Dealer offered me $4K trade-in for the Avalon which I refused. Sold it the next week @ $8K. Very happy with the ES and so far I am not missing the real leather seat. The NuLuxe is holding up well (no crease or wrinkle whatsoever) and doesn't feel as hot in the summer compares to real leather. Haven't even tried the Scout GPS yet. the only thing I wish to have is the Blind Spot monitor on the side mirrors. Everything else I can live without.

Here is another data point on pricing.

I took delivery yesterday of my 2018 ES 350: Eminent White Pearl/Parchment, Premier package, Blind Spot Monitor, Parking Assist, Spoiler, and Michelin MXV4s. After the $2,500 incentive and discount by the dealer, I paid 10% off MSRP.

I might have received a better price by buying off the lot, but AZ dealers only have cars with a panoramic roof, which I did not want. The dealer traded to get my car, which is how I ended up with the spoiler (which looks nice, but wasn't on my list of "must have" features).

Lexus has ceased making 2018s as it retools for the 2019 model year. Based on my research, information from forum members, and quotes from out-of-state dealers, it is still too early to get the more aggressive deals that were available last year on the outgoing 2017 models.

I moved now to secure the car and color/features I wanted -- no regrets. The price was in line with the current market, and the dealer experience was excellent.
