Default AC Compressor Failure

I have a 2013 ES350 with 108K miles. I was driving yesterday and my AC stopped blowing cold air. Turned off the climate control and then back on, still no cold air. I then went in to the climate control menu and turned of the A/C and the back on and it worked for the next hour of my drive to my meeting. Got back in my car after the meeting and no A/C, tried everything and it wouldn't work. Dropped if off a the Lexus dealership last night and just got a call that my A/C compressor and clutch need to be replaced at a cost of $2,536. Wow this sucks. Anyone else run into issues with their A/C and or have any recommendations?

At the very least I'd get a few more estimates for the repair. Take it to your local Toyota dealer and see what they say. Then check out an independent A/C repair shop too.
That's a load of money...

I have never had a compressor failure but on my 2007 the clutch was bad and the repair although covered by warranty was really extensive - It took a couple of days or more and I believe involved removing the front bumper and grill and the radiator, maybe the condenser as well. It will be expensive and you want it done right.

While it was a different repair, a number of years ago, the AC on my GX needed repairs. The Lexus dealer quoted me $1800. The Toyota dealer quoted me $800 for the same repair, but they felt that simpler repair would do the job. I ended up paying about $150 for that repair, and it got everything working properly.

I'm confident that either a Toyota dealer or an independent shop would be able to fix the problem in the OP at a significantly lower cost than what the Lexus dealer wants.

Appreciate the feedback. I called the local Toyota dealer and they provided me with the following pricing. $2373 with new Lexus parts or $1532 with aftermarket re-manufactured parts. He mentioned if I had Lexus do the work I will have a 1 yr parts and labor warranty, where if they installed the Lexus parts he wouldn't be able to offer the warranty on the Lexus parts.

Yoder.. as I just mentioned on another thread, I have had compressor issues.. wasn't on my Lexus, but rather a 2007 Avalon. Compressor went out in 2012 and was replaced with a remanufactured compressor... if memory serves me correctly the charge for the compressor and labor back then was around 1700 bucks. I didn't have to pay it, I just remembered them telling how much it would cost.
