Well, after a trip to the dealer, they don't make decisions easier. Offering a 'new' 2015 LS (only with Levinson and Comfort) msrp around 84k for 67k plus taxes. Nice discount, but on a car about to be a year old and new style coming soon,. OR 2016 ES with UL (all options) msrp 50k for 45k plus taxes.

Style on the ES fresher, but an LS is...well..an LS! Love an isolated ride, but LS is kinda large for my family. Will be hard decision. Pointers?

I was able to test drive them both. Very nice cars, both. Can't lose. Very blessed to have the decision.

The LS was a lot of car to drive, but could really appreciate it's refinement. Ready for a refresh a little bit in comparison to the '16 ES in some ways. And for my city driving the ES a little more nimble, at cost of less refinement and noise. Not concerned with gas mileage difference. Man, it's a tough one. Priced just at that point for me that it's a hard decision. About a $23k difference. Wow. Hmm.

 

Sounds like you want the LS, but know the ES would be more practical.

 

A nice position to be in. 20% off for the LS, or 10% off of an ES. Both nice choices, and I see the conundrum. Good luck and you can't go wrong with either decision.

 

Right on! I think the ES plus cash is a few trips to Europe. Or can invest the money, and get another ES or whatever in 4-5 years with the difference. But the LS. Like butter. Will I feel that way in Summer 2017 when it gets it's first redesign since '07. I honestly don't know.

To me, $23K difference is not even a comparison, but if money is not a problem for you, go for the LS!

Within a few years, your ES will be one of many in the sea of ESes, but the LS is still rare. I doubt the redesigned LS power train will be much different from the current gen LS, probably still V8, tweaked for more HP and a more aggressive look.

Rumor is the LS Hydrogen will be available in 2018 or after, but again that is even beyond the LS600hL league. It's true that the LS hasn't been on a complete redesign since 2007, but the 2013 mid cycle refresh is almost as good as a new design.

 

Good points. I can't say money is or is not a problem, but 23k is 23k. The discounts for me are just at that point of agony...in a 1st world problem kind of way...

 

put it this way...it's a great proposition to be in. you've been blessed..congrats....btw my choice is to swallow up the LS. i think it's easily 23k better...

 

LS all day long! No knock on the ES, but the LS is in a class by itself.

I own the LS600hL, which is the "Uber-LS" model. Mine is a 2008 that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Dated? Perhaps, but the styling of the current model LS (which has remained mostly unchanged since inception in 2007) is so perfect that I truly don't think it will ever go out of style. There's a reason the LS is the Lexus "flagship," and with the huge discount being offered, I really can't see you ever regretting getting the best. Conversely, if you settle for the ES, every time you see an LS or think about an LS, you'll wish you had ponied up the extra $$$ (assuming you can afford to do so, of course).

I guess next LS won't be seen this year. Interesting LS500 and LS500h? Are they using the same engine as the 5.0 liter GS-F and RC-F?

 

One factor in the equation is how many miles do you anticipate on a yearly basis. $24K is a huge discount and hard to ignore. $5K is still a pretty nice discount for a '16 ES350 that just hit the showroom floor.

 

Where did you get the $24K? $84-$67 = $17K. Still a lot though..
