Default Carista App for Android!

Hey,

Has anyone used the Carista app for their 2013 + Lexus ES to customize features on their vehicle ?

I bought a OBD2 Bluetooth device and downloaded the Carista app on my Note 4 Edge. However, it only allows me to check faults and emission tests.

When i try to customize it gives an error message that the OBD2 is defective, but if it was defective it shouldn't work at all, any advise anyone ?

Hi there,

Yup, lots of people here have tried our app

The market has recently been flooded with fake/bad Bluetooth ELM327 devices and yours seems to be one of them. They DO work ok for basic OBD2 diagnostics and that's why the "CHECK FAULTS" works (although it doesn't check any Lexus-specific ECUs), but they certainly don't work for the advanced Lexus-specific communication protocol that's required for customizations.

Unfortunately, the only thing I can recommend is to return the device and get a different one.

In the US, we recommend the BAFX device here:
Amazon.com: BAFX Products - Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light & diagnostics - Android ONLY: Automotive Amazon.com: BAFX Products - Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light & diagnostics - Android ONLY: Automotive

Thanks for the response, i will return it and buy the one you suggested. The website where i downloaded the Carista app recommended the ELM.

Thanks again.

Hey Pirelli, I bought mine on Amazon for about $10.00. Worked out of the box on my Nexus 5 and I changed all the features I wanted to. Better than going to the dealer and takes about 10 minutes.

No, there were several recommended on this forum and I bought the Vgate Scan OBD Scan Advanced OBD scan tool.

Here it is: http://www.eobd2.net/wholesale/elm32...2UDRoCDJLw_wcB

thanks man, i actually received the package an hour ago, and just got done customizing my vehicle, it works great

I was surprised to see the amount of options you can customize, the main feature that i wanted to disable was the god awful seat belt chime which is so annoying. As a conscious adult i do not need a loud chime to tell me to put my seat belt on. I will put it on when im good and ready lol.

Also i did not like that the rear sun shade retracts when you reverse, and changed a buncha other options to do with the lights and seat position. Best 20 bucks i ever spent, no wait i did go to Thailand a few years, i retract that statement

Yeah, I think that Lexus should do thee changes for you as a courtesy and beyond the 5k service interval. This accessory is the next best thing. Mine was only $10.00. One of the best 10 bucks I spent. Oh wait, I spent considerable time in New Orleans...LOL

Quick update, everyone: we now have our own OBD adapter and it's available on amazon.com and amazon.ca (and soon to be available in Europe as well). Check it out: http://www.caristaapp.com/hardware/

$40 bucks for the adapter plus $20 for the app. Ouch!

Common Carista you can do better than that. Why not Sell the adapter for $40 and give the app for free as a promotion to this Lexus community forum

I think that the tool can be bought online for a whole lot less than $60.00. As previously posted I got mine for $10.00, the app was free, and free shipping. The Carista price doesn't make a lot of sense to me...

The free part of carista only allows you to read codes, but you can not access the personalize menus unless you cough up $20 green ones

Well the app must have been changed since I bought it a while ago. Mine does it all...
