My car has 125000kms. It had the last oil service in Dec and the only major item was the replacing of the coolant.
With this mileage, what should I start budgetting for with regard to
Fuel and oil pump
Serpentine belts
How are the start motors on these cars - good for another 100000kms ?
What do the members do as the car approaches 200000km's. I'll most likely have it still by then.
Transmission fluid, I replace every 30-40K miles. Brake fluid - every three years. Belts no later than 10 yrs and only if the visual inspection shows no signs of wear or tear.
You got to inspect the vehicle to know what needs replacement. Check your cv join boots, your tie rod ends, stabilized bar ends and bushings... motor mounts, brakes. Mileage alone is not enough to tell the state of wear. Many other factors affect the wear rate: weather, frequency and type of driving, road service, types of fuel use, load of the vehicle etc....
The Lexus dealer I'm sure would look at those items mentioned. Regarding the fluids and stuff, I go by the maintenance schedule. Once the car hit's 200000km though I may think of servicing it every 10000kms as opposed to 15000km's.
But good points. at least there's noting major I need to worry about.

If you already have selected a way to go about maintenance and you are sure that your dealer would check everything necessary, what is the point of you asking?
To really know what services or repairs need to be done, you have to bring the car to a competent mechanic who can raise the vehicle and examine major components - suspension, engine/transmission seal leakage, brakes, rubber CV boots, etc.
A car might require many thousands in repairs with no obvious signs or sounds from outside or inside, unless someone performs the proper inspection.
The reason for asking is merely to know what to expect so that I can plan/budget as best I can for big ticket items.
I'm assuming (assuming being the operative word), that most of the inspections above are in fact covered in the service schedule as Inspection items and that they do it.
But all points are taken on board. I suppose it also applies to my even higher mileage Honda
