Default 2008 Lexus ES350 Headlight Assembly Replacement

Hello guys, so today I crashed my 2008 ES350 and the whole right lamp got destroyed, the car has HID headlights with AFS, I was wondering if I could buy the cheap replacement with no HID or AFS, I don't need them, nor do I care for them, so I was just wondering if it's possible. Do they have the same connectors?

Sorry to hear about the crash hope all parties involved weren't injured.

I believe the HID and regular halogen housings have different connector and wiring. I cant confirm this but read various post regarding forum members upgrading their halogens to LED or HID and the bulbs used b/w the HID version and Halogen version are different, in other words an upgraded LED bulb would be different for the HID housing vs halogen housing. This leads me to believe that your existing wiring may require you to replace with a HID housing.

I'm not a 100% sure though and would wait for others with more concrete facts to chime in.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding, I was looking in a few junkyards for ES350's, I could only find a 2012 one, the hood and fenders for the ES from 2007-2012 are the same, do you think I'll be able to retrofit lights and a bumper? I think it'll look nicer, I have seen many Toyotas from 2005 retrofitted with stuff from a 2021 model, only cosmetics have changed, the chasis on those is the same, just like the ES350 and the ES350 from 2010-2012.

Don't waste your time trying to retrofit the wrong part. You can probably find the right one used at http://www.rancholexusrecycling.com/

or eBay where I have searched 2008 Lexus ES350 right headlamp and found many of them available, both new aftermarket, OEM and used.

I think you can take the AFS off the old one and put it in the new one. Did you find one? I'm also looking.

I don't think it will be a plug and play. My only experience is with my friend's 05 Prius. I helped him replace his headlight assemblies; however, he bought LED assemblies and he didn't realize he had HID lights. The wiring connectors were different. An LED light bulb will have a three-prong connector; his had a two-prong round connector that went to the ballast. And the ballast had a different wire connector for the wring harness. You would have to splice into this connector with the three-prong design. The assembly bold-down connectors were the same and the assembly was a perfect fit otherwise.
