Default The dash board finish is very soft

I think from the sun beating on it but u barely touch your fingernail to it a u can gouge a chunk right out of it if your not careful.Replacing my head unit the wire harnesses are short
And the bk of the unit gouged a few chunks out of the dash the plastic panel popper even took a chunk out when barely prying against it.Any suggestions on how to fill these divets.please and thank you

Yeah, these dashes are a pain. I unfortunately missed the replacement window for getting a new dash from Lexus as part of the recall. I myself have hit the top with my fingernails and left a mark.

Try to fill them with silicone.

If anyone has had good luck with Lexus on this, please post.
The dash on my 2007 ES hasn't cracked (yet), but as the O.P. said, you can tear holes in it with a misplaced fingernail.

The issue is covered for 10 years from the date of first use/purchase. I doubt a dealer would want to cover the cost of that repair outside of that time frame, but it's always worth a shot.

We were 6 months out of date and the car was in for the airbag. They would not replace it.

This is the reason why I sold my ES, the sticky dash drove me nuts. Anyway I ran into this the other day and for a few bucks I would of tried it. Basically it’s a cleaner and then a sealer for the dash.

I started using a sunshade cover because of threads like this. My dash is in great shape, so hopefully I can prevent it from happening in the future.

There’s a different TSB out for the dash, we called our dealer and was told our vehicle was covered until March 2021. So most people are covered under the TSB.

When was your car purchased? My understanding is the quality program is for 10 years from first date of use (purchase).

just brought my 2008 to Lexus a few weeks back, the dash has arrived and they are replacing it next week. Call Lexus Headquarters or the dealership and they can look up your VIN and see if you qualify for the program.

That’s awesome a year ago I tried like hell to have it approved for my 07 that I owned at the time and they wouldn’t budge.
