This is my first post. Never had any issues with my 2007 Lexus ES350 until now.

Yesterday, I got in my car and the notification on the dash told me my key fob battery was low. So I bought a 1632 battery and installed it. Was able to unlock/lock car with no problems. Started car and no notification about the battery. This is where the problem starts:

I get out thinking all is good and I try to lock the door with the outside black button on the handle and a long beep starts. I press the lock button on my key fob and it locks the doors. I try to unlock the car with the door handle and nothing happens. I press the unlock button, on my key, fob and door unlocks. The inside unlock and lock buttons work.

Now i have noticed from time to time time when I tried to unlock the door with the door handle, it sometimes didn’t work but I didn’t pay it too much attention...until yesterday when it completely didn’t work at all.

Any thoughts on what could the problem?

 

It might be the fob and opening and replacing the battery has made things worse. Do you have another fob you can test with?

 

is there another key fob in the car? if so wont lock w black button
does the passenger black button work?

 

Thanks, I tried my other key fob and it worked. I guess the key fob has gone bad over the years.
