Moon Roof Wind Noise
I have a 2012 ES-350 with about 55K. I love this car, but at highway speeds, I can hear wind noise coming from the moon roof when the sliding panel is open (the panel that covers the moon roof glass from the inside). The moon roof does not leak when it rains. I even cleaned the metal surface where the rubber gasket seals against, and put Dow Corning 55 O-ring grease on it, but I still get the noise.
I can put my hand up there, and I can't feel any breezes, so I can't figure out where the noise is coming from. When I close the sliding panel, that stops the noise. The wind can't be coming in through the rubber seals, or I would think that I'd get leaks when it rains.
This is a minor problem; the car is great otherwise, but the mystery keeps bothering me. Anyone have any clues on this?

Check to see if all of your screws are tight on the moon roof mechanism - sometimes they loosen up over time and can cause both wind noise and leaks. You might also clean the seals and lubricate them with silicone.

I wish that weathertech made a sunroof visor for our cars. I had one for my Camry and it worked well to kill the sunroof noise even when it was open. The previous owner of my car aparently cleaned the snow off of the car with a shovel as they broke a piece of the rubber gasket on top of the sun roof, and put little scratches all over the car.

The older the seals are the more they will leak. Mostly due to shrinkage along with some drying out. They are not meant to be water tight as that's the reason they have drain on them. So over time you will get some wind noise and if you really want to fix it then it will be costly as you'll need to replace the seal. Just make sure that you keep the drain clear so you don't get any water inside the car or headliner. As for the wind noise just keep the cover closed or get new seals.
