my 2008 Lexus es350 is in need of a navigation map upgrade. Are the CD maps on Amazon any good? Is it hard to replace?

 

on the bottom of your screen right under the screen not on the screen you see the plastic piece that looks like a sperate molding
it may say Mark Levinson on it or may say Lexus on it
my 2007 cant hardly see the writing on the plastic part
but that you need to carefully remove don't try and pry it out I put my finger nails under it between where it joins with the part it goes into if that makes sense to you
and then push it upwards not out but up it will snap out of place that is where the DVD goes into the unit its a DVD not a cd
you can go on eBay and get burned knock of copies for cheap or you can go to the dealer and pay like 150 to 200 for an authentic DVD
the burned knock of DVD's on eBay seem to last for about a year depending on how often you use it before they burn out I have had some last a year and one lasted 2 years.

i can't find a youtube video to show how to remove the dvd i had to have a dealer show me the first time
i am sure someone here can explai more ot you on hwo to remove the cover properly and then how to get to the feature to eject the map dvd

personaly since i don'tknow if i will be keeping my ES for another year or two i would probably just go with the cheap replacment of this one on ebay the fake burned copy however some people would rather go spend the real cash to replace it at the dealer and nothing is wrong with that

Truly appreciate your input and feedback... I have seen the you tube video. And I know I can do this... my greatest fear was Buying knock off maps on eBay....and doing harm to my nav system with it.
