Default Got insurance to pay for an oem windshield

No idea how either. Long story short debris flew off of gravel type truck carrying pipes and cracked my windshield the day before my inspection. Pipe company ignores my emails and I can't get the crack fixed because in West Virginia you can't repair in the critical area in front of the driver.

Had to go through my own insurance to get it done. Local agent advised me to call the 800 number which connects me to Safelite Solutions (booooooooo!). They advise that they will only pay $270 which won't cover oem costs because I don't have an oem replacement policy . I contacted the local agent who tried to contact a local guy who suggested oee (original equipment equivalent) Pilkington. Another glass replacement company that does the dealer jobs also advised Pilkington was oee and that they make the oem glass for lexus. They advised it was the same.

After reading some positives and negative reviews about Pilkington online, I checked in with the local insurance office (Nationwide) again. They reached Safelite Solutions who advised that they would indeed pay for oem glass and that it was in my policy.

Anyway, got the oem glass in for my $200 deductible and it looks good as new. Got my state inspection hours after.

Some interesting points:
-Local lexus dealer does not work with insurance on windshield repairs and referred Safelite to the company they use
-Windshield replacement owner did the job himself. Nice guy. He said that Pilkington replacements sometimes have problems with the mirror coming unglued and rain sensors. He said that some of the brand new RXs have problems with the mirrors coming unglued also though.
-He was able to tell that the cracked windshield on the car was actually a replacement (it was oem and stamped with the lexus logo). Didn't know that they could tell
-The person handling the appointments said that they get a lot of work from fixing Safelite's mistakes.
