The seller of a 2007 ES350 wrote:

This is a bit confusing to me. Even the 'Base' model has a 6-CD in-dash player - isn't that the same as the optical drive on most PCs, which plays anything that fits in there? I also think the navigation system works off a DVD. Can someone clear this up for me please?

 

The optical drive in your PC is most like a DVD player. DVD players can play both DVDs and CDs. CD players just CDs. The six disk in-dash CD player, is just that, a CD player. Music only although it will play MP3s.

The NAV does work of a DVD but I don't think it can play movie DVDs though. The DVD is just for map data.
