How can be proactive with regards to the Water Pump

I think the only weak point is the water pump. Everything else i metal made and it will last forever.

water pump HELP!
My 2008 Lexus RX 350 has only 18,800 miles on it. That's correct - 18,800 miles. Always garaged, rarely used and only driven by me. Brought it in to Lexus for Inspection and they tried to sell me a 6 year service including, replacement of the water pump. Service advisor told me that "everything expires" including the pump and I should replace it. Is this a legitimate service on a car with 18,800 miles and 8 years old?
