Just wanted to share my recent experience. I bought an 09 ES 350 in June after a bad car accident. After some heavy rain and a few washes, I saw that the wheels had chemical etching (the brake dust had covered this up when I originally looked at it) and the horizontal surfaces had some significant paint issues too. I wasn't too happy and left a bad Google review online. A few weeks later, I started getting phone calls from the dealer about the review. Finally the general manager called and offered to pay to repaint all horizontal surfaces and bumpers, have the car detailed, and they are reimbursing me for the $500 I spent on powder coating my wheels. They also gave me a service loaner and literally drove it over 3 hours to my front door when they picked up my car.
They didn't have to help me out at all. I didn't look at the vehicle as carefully as I should have when I purchased, but I also didn't expect it to have those issues. I've bought most of my previous lexus cars from non-lexus dealers because you can often find a better deal elsewhere. But in this case it really helped me out.
I did the day that I got my car back-a great one too. The paint work looked good except for where the wipers had previously scraped the hood (the painters ignored this despite repainting the entire hood?), some clearly visible sanding marks on the hood and roof, and the dummies pressed something into the paint on the trunk while it was still wet. So kudos to the dealer for making things right, but the body shop that they contract with is not so great.
