Cool lexus es350

We bought a used 87KM Lexus ES350. It has been one and 3/4 years and now our transmission is doing strange things. This morning driving out of our driveway, I put the car in "D" and the motor just revved up t0 7K RPM.s but the car did not move. After 5 minutes of slow peddling the car, it began to move. I cut into a back street and kept peddling. after 10 minutes the car came back to normal, however, the motor and traction light came on. The car seemed normal but the lights stayed on. Fearing a major problem (we could have been "back-ended") I took the car home and left it in the garage. ToDay is Sun and to morrow I will try and get this problem solved at a Toyota DEALER as I believe the Camray and Lexus 350 are the same car.
Any help appreciated

Save the trip to the Toyota dealer. he will just refer you to the Lexus dealer.
