Default Potentially Picking up a 2012

So today we were looking for a new car, test drove the 2013 and it drove awesome, but dad wasn't a fan of the front end (car is for him). They showed us a 2012 on the lot with 4k miles. I guess the guy bought it, the 2013 came in and he took a huge loss, traded in the 2012 and got the 2013. My question is how do you guys like this gen. es350? My dad did the same thing with his 2001 es300 that i now have when the 2002s came out. This is the car in question http://www.northtownlexus.com/Vehicl...-NY/1906669273

It has the side door mouldings, the spoiler, the clear bra, the door edge guards, cargo net, and wheel locks. As a package it is a step right below Ultra Luxury.

Any input would be great. As for the way it drove, exactly what i was expecting. Not as crisp as the 2013, but more comfortable, at least i thought so. For anyoen who had a 2007 es350, did the quirks that that model (quality type stuff) get solved with the later models? Such as the engine noise when cold. We looked at them in 2007 but got an rx instead, but there were issues with that car that we heard about back then that we didn't really see with the 2012, but If anyone here has owned both your input would be great.

Personally, I would never buy the first year of a new gen vehicle from ANY manufacturer. Every time I've done that, I have to put up with a multitude of minor problems that only seem to show up after customers buy some & drive them a bit. Not enough pre-production testing I guess.

But, most problems with the '07 ES were addressed by the second model year. By 2012, there shouldn't be any of those problems left (knock on wood).

Anyway, we love our '08. It's a superb highway car--quiet and comfortable. The suspension may be too soft for some, but it isn't supposed to be a sports car. Hope this helps.

The price seems very strong. Picking out the options I can spot, I come up with a sticker price new of about $41,094 with an invoice price of $37,246. So they are "asking" $1,800 more then the invoice cost for it new. You should have been able to purchase it new on closeout for $37,000 or less

For reference I paid $36,000 for an 11 month old Ultra w/9,000 miles ($10,000 off list)

I paid 38K for brand new 2012 with same options! I would not pay more than 34-35 for this car.
Also, previous generation ES 350 seats are horrible and very uncomfortable. Make sure you really feel the seats, I regret I bought it because of the seats alone!

Traded in our 2007 Ultra for a 2011 Premium leftover. No "ticking lifter noise" when cold on the 2011 versus the 2007. Miss the ML sound system but the 2011,after 8,500 miles since 10/2011 is running fine.

Hey, your from Buffalo area. I grew up in Lancaster and moved in 1977 to the Scranton area. Anyway, this car is equipped pretty much like my 2011. I think I paid around that for a new leftover 2011 back in 10/2011. No issues for a return to the dealer in 15 months of ownership.

this car is 1 year old, I got the same car brand new 1 year ago for $38K. Prices depend on the location, but not that much. Go to edmunds.com, car that you are buying has dealer retail price of 35K. Paying more than 35K is a rip off, sorry to disappoint you.

Nobody cars who gives you what towards your tradein car. Each transaction should be handled separately, go to edmunds.com and get true market value for your trade-in and for the car you want to buy, dont listen to the dealer non-sense.

Well we got it down to $37000, now we are still going to have to discuss the trade. Nada has the car for 35600 and KBB has it for 37789. I looked at all the websites and like i said, cars are priced higher in my area. Also where in Lancaster Garsarno? My dad's office is in Depew right on the Depew Lancaster border and my grandparents live in Lancaster right off of Genesse, although im sure much has changed since the 70s

End of the month on Thursday. Stick to your guns and sit on their doorstep....you have the money and the power to make a deal and they want your money. They'll be wanting to get another sale for the month.

Remember....If they want retail price.....hold out for retail price for your trade-in.

Ya we have a $2300 credit to use towards the dealership that expires at the end of the month, so we figured we would use it. Another question is, this car has the Michelins on it, i know these tires don't last very long but do you think we could get at least 30k miles? I'll be honest my mom and dad did the negotiating so i dont have a huge role on that end, but thanks for all the input on the car. My dad was going to get the 2013 but he said he didn't like the way the front end looked? He did say the 2013 drove really well though.

The Michelins on our 2007 did not last, being replaced by Michelin at 19,000 miles. The second set also did not last long. According to the dealer, they are specified for a soft ride and not mileage. We used Kumho tires as the next replacement and they did last longer with a firmer ride. I used to work for a company on Terrace Blvd called Duo Temp, a storm door and window manufacturer. Long gone but I used to live on Erie street back in the 70's. Remember Antoinettes Candy, Salvatores..... The Bridgestone tires on my '11 seem to be lasting the same as the Michelins. Will most likely buy 3 more of the same and utilize the full size spare next time I need tire replacement, putting the worn tire as the spare.

Your Michelins were the MXV4 S8, they have poor tread wear. What you need are the Primacy MXV4. Same ride as the S8s, but with much better tread wear and a tread wear warranty.

Small world, my dads office is 571 Terrace Blvd. I guess it used to be the old depew town hall, its reight next to the fire station. As for the tires, i guess the general thought here is the tires dont last long. Might be a stupid question, but will a car with a navigation system always have HID lights? Or were they a seperate option
