Default 2010 CPO ES should include new tires?

My 2010 ES had 18K miles on it when I purchased it two weeks ago. The vehicle was sold to me with original tires which have some wear to them. Is it standard for dealers to sell CPOs with the original tires or are they required to put new tires on as part of the vehicle certification? Thanks for the help.

18k miles is not a lot of miles for tires. As long as they aren't worn down to a certain point, there is no reason to put new ones on.

Most new tires start with about 11/32" of depth. I think if it has something like 5/32" (or some predetermined amount) they would be required to put new ones on.

I just finalized a deal on a 2008 CPO ES350 today and it has what looks like new tires - still has the tire nipples along the outer edge. This car, however, has 46k miles and I'm sure the originals were pretty much done.

No, I don't believe a CPO Lexus has to have new tires. I bought one once with less than 6K miles and it still had the original tires which were of course in very good condition. I think I saw the standards for a CPO once and they referred to a minimum tread wear on the new tires. I bet some dealers do put new tires on a lot of CPO's though especially if they do much with special wheels and have some take-offs available.

OK, thanks for the info. The tires are in good shape, just wanted to be sure I wasn't supposed to have a new set as part of certification.
