Default 08 ES 350 engine vs 08 Camry V6 engine

Hello guys. I own 08 ES 350 and this might be a 'stupid' question but does 08 ES 350 and 08 Camry V6 share same/ similar engine or not? If not, what's different??

It's the exact same engine, 3.5L 2GR-FE V6. You can confirm this by checking the plastic engine cover of both cars. Both will say 2GR-FE.

The hp ratings differ by 4, but that's just a gimmick with the Lexus using premium fuel.

This is Toyota's universal V6 used in almost all of its V6-available passenger cars. RAV4 V6, Estima/Previa 3.5, Sienna, Camry V6, Highlander V6, Venza V6, Avalon, the list is endless.

For Lexus, the RX350, RX450h and ES350 also use this engine.

The new Lotus Evora also uses this engine. The Lexus IS350 uses a slightly different DI version.

I agree with you, when I was deciding should I use premimum gas or not as this has a Camry engine .. does it make a difference. Sure Premium gas is great because you will get extra mileage, etc but here in Canada premium gas difference in costs is double then what you guys pay in USA.

Same engine, nothing wrong with that. Its a good, powerful, and fuel efficient piece of engineering

Is there any benefit to using premium gas other than a small increase in mileage? I can hear the dealer now..... "If you don't use super-93 in this car, you will void your warranty......." ugh.....

Been using 87 in mine since day 1. 55K miles later, get around 31 on the highway and 24 in the city. My wife has a 2010 Highlander with the same engine and 87 is recommended.

they usually dont start ticking until they get more mileage and then carbon builds up the piston and or other places which raises the compression which causes spark knock .... thats why you want to run higher octane in cars with high compression because it burns slower .

It is the same engine for sure, but a Lexus version may not have the same timing curve and total advance. That also affects the need for high octane gas. Modern cars have knock sensors that detect knock or ping before our own ears do. Then the computer decreased the timing to eliminate the knock and prevent engine damage. This also decreases the power and milieage at the same time.

The problem is said to be only on North American made vehicles.
For now,anyway.

I get 24 city, also. But, I am able to get 35+ on the highway. Premium fuel only for my car.

Please understand the issue before posting mis-information. http://www.aa1car.com/library/spark_knock.htm

And this for carbon build up. http://www.autospeednet.com/sites/3d...ewterm/3681/0/

I've run 87 and 93 octane in my car for thousands of miles each with no discernable difference in mileage, performance, or sound. My 07 ES350 now has over 72,000 miles on it and I'm running 87 octane all the time (except for the occassional random premium fill up). My mileage runs between 32 & 34 highway and about 26 mixed driving around town.

Of course I lose any economic benefit on the gasoline end by using only Mobil One for oil changes. I'm convinced it isn't needed but I still use it exclusively. What can I say....

Wink MPG for regular gas in Lexus ES350

Don't waste your money on premium gas for your ES. Actually we had an 03 Acura TL, used reg. no problems. In Oct. 09 bought 07 ES350 and dealership in Wilmington De. said they use only regular in all their Lexus vehicles with no problems. Get 32-33 mpg on trip only roughly 22-23 in local driving and more on a mix. Can't beat that (IMHO).
