Default 2007 ES350 Steering Wheel Controls

Has anyone had this issue? My cars steering wheel controls for the radio has bubbled up and torn off. It is a thin layer of rubber that covers the controls. It bubbled up one day and just got bigger and bigger till it got a tear in it. Does anyone know if you can change these out yourself. Down here in Houston I guess it was the heat and humidity, but still question why it happened.

Hot or cold that shouldn't happen and sounds like a warranty issue as I don't think there is an inexpensive fix for that part.

Thanks for the info Dave Mac. I'm pretty sure when I take my car in for the 40K maint., I will surely get them to check it out and hopefully it falls under warranty so they can change it out.

Yeah they will replace your whole wheel under warranty. It's a known problem thats why if you look at a 2010 the rubber is gone and its all plastic now. There is no way just to replace the rubber so the whole wheel is replaced.

Took my car in this morning for 40K service and they also looked at the steering wheel issue. As for the steering wheel issue, they had to order the part and it is covered under the Manufactures Warranty. They will replace at no charge.

Thank everyone for their help!

This is why it is good to opt for the Lexus Platinum Warranty before the factory warranty expires if you intend to keep the car. Can't imagine what the swivel headlights would cost to repair / replace along with other parts of this car out of warranty...
