I just saw a 2010 ES delivered to my local dealer as a courtesy delivery apparently for an upcomming auto show. It was a silver with black interior Ultra with pretty much every available option. It had the sharks fin antenna on the roof but also had a second antenna on the trunk lid almost where the rear spoiler would be. It was body colored plastic and about twice the size of the usual satelllite radio antenna. Does anyone know what it is for sure. I am assuming that maybe the sharks fin will work for navigation but because of the glass or lack of a ground plane a second antenna on metal is needed for navigation - or maybe it is just the opposite. I'd like to be sure because it the trunk mounted pod doesn't look good and I would want to be sure not to order the combination that would include that. I'm not thinking Ultra anyway so if it's the glass roof I won't have to worry. The dealer person was not able to help with this.

That is true as we just got a UL the other day at the dealership. It is for Enform. The regular models have it inserted in the roof line, however with the UL it can not be placed there. This car is already gone for a pic, however if you go to Lexus.com you can actually see it in the pics of the UL. My suggestion because it is odd is just add the spoiler and you wont notice it.



Just to recap:
Shark fin is just SAT radio
GPS is located in the dashboard
Enform rear trunk lid.

I will admit it is kind of odd looking.

Saw it on the Lexus homepage / looks more like a plug than an antenna.

 

If you have seen the late model Audis with GPS it looks like the old GPS antennas that were mounted on there trunk. It is best described as a pod. With the spoiler this can be hidden.

 

Are you sure it's for Enform? If you cover the pod on the truck deck with the SAT radio on, the radio cuts out.
