Default Passenger Seat Memory

Does the passender seat memory recognize which position to be in by the driver's key fob, or do the buttons need to be pressed? I have yet to mess with them because I was unsure how it works. Thanks guys.

You gotta press the buttons.

They won't introduce the gender/weight recognizing key fob's until 2010.

Thanks for the snide reply. The memory seats on my wife's Cadillac position by keyfob - when she uses her fob(#1), her presets are set (including radio, mirrors, climate settings, etc and the passenger seat goes to position 1. When I use my fob (#2) my presets are set and the passenger seat goes to position 2. The nav screen even greets us by name according to which fob is used (for mine it says "Hello Mr. Turner"). For most other features my Lexus surpases her Cadillac so I am surprised the Lexus is lacking in this feature. Sorry for asking a question in the forum...

That is interesting AccElan01. I too thought you were asking for something beyond what anyone offers but you have already experienced it with your Cadillac. It would be a nice feature and I hope Lexus offers it in the future.

Didn't mean it like that. Just a little rub.

It does sound like a cool feature to have. Do you still have to press a button on the keyfob for the memory function to work? If so, then it would be no different than pushing the memory button inside the cabin. Now if it senses that you are to be the driver just by you being on that side of the car with the door open, then that would be ultimately a cool function to have. Of course that would be unnecessary wear and tear on the motor if you were to reach in on different sides of the car to retrieve items with the keyfob in your possession.

The remotes are numbered "1" and "2" (it does not have the keyless system). When the car is unlocked with remote 1 all of the presets and memory features go to position 1. Same for remote 2. The memory position for the passenger seat are included in this. When she drives (and unlocks the car with her remote) the driver seat and mirrors go to her position, the climate system and audio presets go to her preferences, the nav screen displays "Hello Mrs. Turner", and the passenger seat goes to my position. When I drive (and unlock the car with my remote) everything goes to my position and presets, the nav screen displays "Hello Mr. Turner", and the passenger seat goes to her position. I started this post wondering if the Lexus was similar regarding the passenger memory position, but apparently it is not (which is no big deal). Thanks for the help and no problem LX.

"When the car is unlocked with remote 1 all of the presets and memory features go to position 1."

at least for my 08 ES350 it does, you just need to link the keys to memory 1 or 2. you can save different users in your nav but I dont think they will link to the key though

Default Only works in Park

Just to add my two cents:

My 07 ES350 didn't seem to work. Colleagues would ride with me to work and adjust the seat. Then at night, my wife would hit #1 to get back to her settings and nothing happened.

I took the car to the dealer and everything worked fine.

I finally diagnosed the problem: the car needs to be in Park before you can adjust the seat by hitting the buttons. (Probably described in one of the voluminous instruction manuals, but I've never managed to get through all of them.)
