ML Sound System problem

ML Sound System problem
I have a problem with my ML sound system. The front right door rattles when I play music with a lot of bass. I paid 1000+ for a sound system… I should not get rattles. Anyone else have this problem?
Also, whether I am playing music really loud or really low (so.. at any volume), I hear my subwoofer rattling my rear window’s net-visor. The dealer changed the woofer, but it still continued to happen; so they said that it must be typical. Anyone else have this problem?

I haven't experienced either issue in the ES, and I do turn it up on occasion. The latter problem would be particularly frustrating. Worse, the dealer's attempt at a solution sounds akin to changing out the anchor when the boat starts to sink. "Must be typical" is a red flag in my book. I'd consider escalating to the service manager or trying another dealer. Good luck...

its not unusual. its not how much you paid for the ML system...it has nothing to do with that. some parts of the car are not insulated enough so that the interior parts collide with each other during vibrations.
Try tuning in radio mode...the subwoofer problem will be even worst than listening to cd.

Rattling body parts are either loose, never were attached to anything or designed to move (like the rear visor) and you happen to be playing a song that has their resonant frequency in the music. For your door panel, you can check to make sure all of the screws and plastic rivets are secured tightly. If it still rattles, then you can add mass to lower it's resonant frequency out of the music's range. Your rear visor will be more difficult to fix since it is designed to be a moving part. While it is rattling, touch it to see if it stops. It may be mis-aligned and touching another piece of the car. No matter what, you will have to be the one to determine the parts that are making noise through a combination of your music and maybe bass test tones. I've never seen a dealership get this one right.
