after researching online i foung some numbers: Car and Driver rates ES350 at 6.2 and Motortrend at 6.5 i think
But this is strange... 6.2 is faster than g35?? 280hp? dont think so...
Actually, both C&D and MT, in the link shown above, show the ES (272hp & 6sp auto) @ 6.2. C&D in a recent comparison test showed the G35 (306hp & 6sp manual) @ 5.5. I would guess the G's auto would be in the high 5's. Sounds about right.
Wow! Are you kidding? That's a 30%-40%, or so, acceleration loss. What's the deal?
I wish I could say I was kidding. Unfortunately I am not. I'm so sick of wasting time with the dealership that I haven't even mentioned it. The car is now extremely sluggish between 3rd and 4th gear, and thats what slows it down. I did inform the customer service supervisor that called from corporate today. Just waiting for a response on a buyback or replacement. I'm not holding my breath though.
ES 350 is a surprisingly powerful car. I was impressed when I merged onto a freeway in this car several months ago. Wow. I'm sure the car would have taken off if I kept going. I was also surprised how the RPM wasn't even at 3000 when the speed was nearing 100 mph.
Yes, 0-60 time is really important in stop-n-go city driving? And, of course, it also really matters on freeway or highway driving?
If a visceral thrill is wanted when one starts from a standing stop to full speed in 1/4 mile then look elsewhere from Lexus.
Lexus buyers want comfort, luxury, style and the kind of acceleration to safely move one past slower automobiles and trucks. This, the Lexus does best.
Want thrilling starting speed, buy a Porsche or a Corvette.
