Default KYB upper mount

OK, low on cash. Have had 2 sets of Monroe quick struts installed on 2007 ES 350. Both sets have a clunk in the upper area of the strut over a small bump. I am told that the Monroe struts have problems with the upper mounts. Will a KYB upper mount fit the Monroe and stop the clunking.? fingers crossed Ed

A KYB or OEM mount that is listed for your vehicle should fit over the Monroe struts.
Have you tested the tightness of the strut bolts?
You do need a spring compressor and the know how to safely take apart the strut. Or you could remove the strut yourself and pay a local shop to compress the spring and swap the mounts.
I did this once on a Mazda when my spring compressor did not fit the struts.
They could also provide their professional diagnosis of the noise source at the same time.

You don't need to replace the mount unless the mount is torn/rusted.. Replace the bearing only.

Clutchless, everything is tight as it should be. I don't have a spring compressor, I must go to a machine shop. It may be more expensive to rig up the Monroe than just go buy KYBs. Then the labor will be over $1300.

ESH, these are new Monroe struts. Would the bearings be bad on two sets of fronts?
I may have to live with this noise for a while. It is getting to be too much.
God bless you 4 your help. Ed

if you just bought these you should be able to do a warranty. if it was rock auto, they used to have a pretty good program. been a while since I've used one tho

Sunglasses, yes I bought them locally and there is a warranty but not for labor. So far parts have been $305.00 and labor $630. Unless I find cheep labor there will be another $175.00 ish ! If I go for a second warranty claim I will buy KYB this time.
Thanks Ed
