Replacing front door speakers

2010 ES-350.

Replaced right front door speaker six months ago successfully with a used one from eBay that looks like this if the picture is correct (I didn't double-check when I received it and installed it but it works fine):

Now I have one on order from eBay for the left front door that looks like this. That's not the same look. Are they the same (or "essentially" the same)?

And then there's this question: Any advice on where to get decent replacement speakers for the front doors at a decent price? Dealer gets about $220 each.

Any chance there's cross-compatibility with any other Lexus models that open my options for finding good used speakers on eBay for the 2010 ES-350?

(For Mark Levinsons, on eBay I can only find used Mark Levinson speakers for an LS, none for my 2010 ES-350.)

Thanks!

Thanks but I have no clue what to do with that. It's a very long thread. In the OP it has one clear reference to front speakers but with a link that's broken:

>> Front door speakers (6x9, 7.9 ohms*) : 86160-0W560

86160-0w560 is the part number for ML front speaker. $100 on ebay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/16730750587...Bk9SR8iBrO6nZQ

sunglassguy used these in the front:

I replaced the front speaker on mine with some Sony's. be careful which front aftermarket speaker you purchase because some don't fit into the door bracket properly.

His alpine and my sony did- i purchased some kenwoods that i had to return because the bracket did not fit

I think you misunderstood. In no way was I intending to be ungrateful. I am VERY grateful! I try not to post "Thank you!" posts because I learned it uses up bandwidth for the platform and audience but yeah man, "Thank you!"

It is a long thread and I did not have any idea what part of it you were referring to when you said you did "this." I didn't have any idea which "this" you were referring to in all that. Not complaining, just communicating that I wasn't clear on what exactly it was that you were pointing me to.

The explanation I was then given made it all make sense and I followed through and am following through -- thanks to your initial help! So "Thank you!" again! (And please don't assume negativity when it's not clear what someone's intention is. Written communication is easy to misread.)

In retrospect I realize your post at the top of the page you linked me to was probably the only one you intended to show me. Sorry that didn't occur to me previously. I hadn't connected the username. My oversight. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding.

no worries, good luck with your project!

I'm finally ready to place an order but I'd appreciate a little more clarity, please, if that's a reasonable request.

The link to the ML on eBay (sold out) says they're for up through 2009. Same here: GENUINE LEXUS ES350 RX350 RX400h GX470 FRONT MARK LEVINSON SPEAKER 86160-0W560

I have a 2010 ES350.

Are we reasonably confident the Alpines sunglassguy got per the link above will work in the 2010 ES350?

Can I be reasonably confident that when I find used speakers on eBay that say the part number is 86160-0W560 OEM it will fit my car? (https://www.ebay.com/itm/335854988804, https://www.ebay.com/itm/145902446923, https://www.ebay.com/itm/196894236613)

Or this new one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/204773026884

Or this new one? https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...160-0w560.html

And are Mark Levinson the standard speakers that come with the car, or a third-party upgrade?

Thanks!

you could also pay someone to repair your broken factories. another option. I've heard the cones are sold on amazon. never done it myself. if the 2010 part number is the same as the 2008 part number, then the speakers I used for my 2008 should work for your 2010.

Thanks. Not sure who I'd find to rebuild them but I guess anyone doing speakers should be able to. More challenging seems to be determining what fits what year models. Even going to the Lexus dealer and looking for OEM online has been giving me conflicting information. Remarkable.

Dealer parts dept quoted X amount and when I called to buy it two hours later a different person was there with a 25% different price, which I assume meant a different part -- even though both had looked up my car from the history and had the VIN in front of them.) I'm starting to think the buzzing sound from the driver speaker isn't all that intolerable after all (just kidding but quite a time-consuming undertaking so far).

Gave up on anything used because of all the difficulty just determining what would be the right fit, returning two purchases I made on eBay that are not going to fit, and even after deciding to "save money by stopping the hemorrhaging of lost time" the battle rages on to find the "right" part from a dealer or major Lexus OEM parts sellers. Real fun.

This seems to be the most reliable source I've found so far for confirming what will fit:

Did you swap them out for new ones? Your originals failed? My passenger side is out.

I haven't solved it yet. Found one on eBay for the passenger side that worked many months ago but haven't found one for the driver side, which now also needs to be replaced. Haven't found a solution yet. Even talking to the dealer resulted in conflicting info from two people in the parts dept. Good luck. I'd try to just go to the dealer if you can afford it. Even had an online third-party speaker company suggest that. Though one person told me just going to Best Buy with your car might get you what you need, too. I haven't tried that. Try it at your own risk.

I don't have the ML system but Crutchfield sells a good replacements and the mounts are free. I'm just going to buy a pair of Fosgates there.

Good luck with that. I hope it works out well. I'll be interested in hearing the outcome. I spoke at length with a rep there who said what they offer may not fit even with their bracket but probably would, and that the bass wouldn't be as good as the OEM and that he suggested I get OEMs from the dealer. A couple months later I spoke with another rep there who said he had no way of knowing which of their products were most likely to fit and work well -- he cited all the machanical and electrical variables that would have to be compatible -- and said to just buy from the dealer.
