I need 2 questions answered.
1. What is the name of the solenoid next to the charcoal canister underneath the rear of the car next to the muffler?
2. From what I can I I need to drop the cross member which involves part of the rear stabilizer and is this safe and if not is there an easier way to get to this part right bove that crossmember?
Thanks in advance,
Ray

I was planning on changing mine next spring. It's just not a critical thing, just leaves that light on.
The part is called the canister vent solenoid. It's $37 at Amazon and also available at Rock Auto. I've not done it yet but seen several DIY vids or read procedures, nobody dropped anything to get at it.

No, the canister vent solenoid is in that picture above. it's to the left of what you circled. From mechanics I've talked to, that is the part that typically fails. You circled a purge valve - not usually the culprit but you can go underneath with a vacuum gauge and test them to see what is at fault.
The part in the engine pay is the vacuum switching valve AFAIK.
You can get take-off parts much more cheaply on ebay and recyclers. The valves are available separately.
I may jack up the car and crawl underneath on Tuesday when I am off work and test these components on my own car and see if I can post some better info then.
