I purchased 7443 combination tail/brake LEDs from vleds.com, along with their VLR6 resistor packs. The resistors were wired into the brake light circuit (e.g. not the tail light), however the "tail light out" message continues to show in the display. I made sure the resistor was "in-circuit" by testing for voltage in the resistor pigtail and do see voltage to the resistor. I'd like to know what kind of success anyone has had with 7443 LED replacements, which worked for you and how they are wired in the circuit, before I return these to vleds.com. Is it necessary to install resistors to the tail light circuit as well?

 

Yes, you need 2 resistors for brake/tail light.
