I have an almost new 2017 ES350 that I leased in June of 2017, just over 4,000 miles on it.

Just cracked my SECOND windshield. In both cases a very small rock chip. In both cases I call for an appointment for a repair. In both cases less than 3 hours later, with the car sitting, the windshield has cracked.

The first one I called and was quoted $1350 for an OEM Glass Install. Called my Insurance and ended up paying my $500 Deductible to get the OEM Glass installed. I'm going to call my agent on Monday with questions about whether to make another claim or not.

In 40 years of driving I've only replaced 1 windshield, and now I'm looking at a second in less than 3 months with this car. I've had plenty with chips that had been repaired to prevent the spreading, but none that have cracked so easily.

Is the cracking of these types of windshields a common thing ? Rather than just staying a chip ?

Tempted to go with a Non OEM glass this time, if this is going to be a regular occurrence.
