I'll change the poll/

I voted for the most recent style because it has by far the best interior (which is where I spend a lot of time).

Cool

92-96 is better.

More resources went into the development of the gen 3 camry platforms that any other.

That... and the engine is better.

Love the 3rd gen interior but I'm not too crazy about the body lines, I love my 97, I think that gen had that body flow to it

I'm going to have to go with the 97 model. The body design and headlights are beautiful on this car. The new ES300 looks like garbage. But hey, not everybody can be a winner.

2001 was the best year. The 02+ are FUGLY! They look like smiling whales!!
ok...where do I start...you make no sense, the 97-01 is a glorified Camry just like the 92-96...the Camry body style changed with the ES's. The 96 style 1MZ is one of Toyota's smoothest running engines, mine has 147k leaks nothing and runs immaculate...I also maintain it. You get out what you put in, maintenance is the key. I did a major overhaul, I guarantee my engine will see at least 250k, and won't leak a drop! Of course engines with 150k will leak a little, the majority of seals are rubber which rot after time. That is the mileage that major overhauls are common. What do you expect from a 92-93, the engine and its seals are 13 years old! 97-01's are only 8 years old max! That is a 5 year difference! I guarantee 97-01's will leak at 150k too, what makes the aging process different in this body style?

Now as far as my personal opinion, I think the 95-96's take the crown. They to me feel heavier and more stable than the 97-01, I run a valet service part-time, trust me I have hours at a time to compare cars. The 97-01feels light, like a little cheaper kinda, like Lexus did something to cut costs. The newest ES's(05) are verrry quiet, smooth and luxurious, but I'm just not a fan of the body style.

I'm torn here. I kinda like the styling of the prior generation in many ways but the new cabin in my 2004 ES330 is just awesome and the luxury features like the stereo have been upgraded.

I have to say the 2004 generation given that Lexus makes material improvements every year...the front design and back design looks great but it is rather fat in a family way when viewed from the side.

Don't mine Ilovemyes3, he doesn't have a clue on what he's talking about.
It's not only the same transmission mechanically, but it's one of the first FWD transmission able to hold over 250bhp reliably. The A540-F was desgiened & holding 250bhp+ in 1985-1986, five years before Generam Motors could make any experimental FWD transmission hold 210bhp.
The engine seals are of the exact same construction...
If anything else, the 3vz-fe is not only by far the strongest engine physically , but never had most of the problems that cropped up with the mz family as they went through production.

I agree and it must be the best generation since its the one I have now.

Seriously though...Lexus really improves every generation which is a key part of their success. The new cabin is amazing.
