Default 2016 ES 350 Programming Homelink

Hi,

I have a 2016 ES 350 and I was able to program the Homelink for the gate, but I tried everything to program the garage with no success. My garage door motor is a Genie, fixed code. So in theory it should be easy.

The dealer said to press button 1&3 at the same time, then wait till the light blinks orange. Once it does, I press the garage remote button and the Homelink button I want to program at the same time, and keep holding them both until light turns green. Homelink toll free number says the same thing pretty much.

Homelink website for the 2016 ES 350 says something different than their toll free number. It says to just press the button you want to program, and the remote at the same time and keep pressing both buttons until the light flashes then turns solid. I used that method and it worked great on the front gate.

I have no idea what to do for the garage door. I know it's a fixed code because I don't have a learn button on my garage door opener machine and I can clearly see the fixed code on both the remote and the machine.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

If I remember correctly, 1 & 3 reset/clear the Homelink. Hold remote & HL button to program the button. Press the opener learn button then the HL button if the opener is rolling code. You say your opener is fixed code so the last step is then deleted. I've done this many times. Sometimes the opener will put the learn button in some awkward place so be sure to look. Rolling codes are common now for several years. Good luck.

The technique has changed for HL pairing with the orange/green light display.
Pressing 1 & 3 remains the method of erasing all codes however.

Press the desired button and release it. Orange light will blink for 30
seconds. During that time press and hold your remote button. Rolling
code systems will then display a flashing green light. Fixed code system
should show a steady green light. Rolling code involves the learn button
on the motor unit - follow the dangling wire up to the button.

If the dangling wire is plain white or gray it is a traditional frequency unit.
If the wire is a bright red or yellow it is the new higher freq. Liftmaster and
will likely need a repeater (frequency translator) for use with older Home
Link units.

Hi. My genie remote had a slider switch on the side. One position of the switch is 315mhz and the other 390. Homelink only works with one of these frequencies. I struggled for weeks trying to figure out what was going on. One genie rep couldnt figure it ou. But another one identified the switch issue and once i tried the other switch position it is worked.
