Default California emission testing

My daughter is moving to California next year and is planning to take her 2000 ES300. It was sold and is currently being driven in a non-emission testing state. The car is well maintained, no CEL's or other obvious issues. Is this car likely to pass California emission standards without significant (i.e expensive) changes or is she going to need to purchase a California specific car? Thanks
