Default Looking to impove performance

I'm looking for input on advancing the timing and maybe adding nitrous to make the ES a little quicker.

Any thoughts on advancing the timing? Will the detonation be very audible or will I just end up with a broken motor with too much timing?
I don't have a timing gun, so I just loosened the distributor thing while the car was off and rotated it a few millimeters in the clockwise direction. So far (100 miles) no audible detonation across the RPM range and it seems to rev smoother (which makes me think I might have backed off on timing instead ) even with the Texaco 87 octane gas in it right now (planning to run 91 on the next fill).

Any thoughts on nitrous with the 3VZ-FE? Biggest Dry and wet?

TIA

Mark

BTW, '92 ES 5speed - mods include: cone filter with intake adapter and 2.5" exhaust piping from rear O2-back w/ magnaflow resonator and muffler (raspy as hell from 1.5K to 3K then it's super quiet all the way to 6.5K & I was looking for something quiet - all around the rev range)

just go ahead and get a timin light, so you do this right. Do not advance it too far and make sure you use preium fuel. for some nitrous, I would say a 75 shot dry with some tuning and a stage colder plugs for best results.
