First Post, looking at ES
No issues running at that lower pressure? I usually keep mine at 2.4 bar or 35 psi, whereas the manual recommends 2.3 bar on 17" rims. It does get a bit bumpy when cold but it smoothens out on the highway.
BB11 Yes, the ride in the newer ES is a little bit firmer than past generations, but the concensus is that Lexus / Toyota is going that route aiming for a younger demographic.... I will tell you that I went from an Avalon to an ES and I really prefer the ES... nothing wrong with the Avalon ( mine was a 2007 model ). My es is a 2013.. Funny thing is both my avalon and my es came with Bridgestone Turanza tires... I found them to be very noisy and a bit rough riding til the tread warms up... My plans are to dump the turanza's and go with MIchilins as soon as the current tires wear down... also the es with 17" wheels does ride a bit smoother than the 18" wheels... but I personally think the 18's look a little better on the car... one other note that might smooth out your ride... when I drove my car home from the dealership I was shocked at how rough it was riding.... then I checked the air pressure... all 4 tires were around 38 psi... lowered them all to 32 psi and that made a world of difference.... hope this helps.

We now have a 2015 Lexus ES300H for me and a 2015 Toyota Avalon SE for my wife.
I got mine at the end of December 2014 and my wife's in the middle of February 2015.
We have now had approximately three o four weeks to compare them.
Starting with quietness, the Lexus wins. When I first test drove it, I sat in the driver's seat and asked the salesman how to start the car. He said, "The car is already running!" My hearing has degraded a bit in the last few years, but my wife is a professional 'cellist and hear hearing is excellent!
Since we both have remote start, it was possible to listen to both cars from a short distance. With this test, the sound levels were about equal, however, I understand that with the hybrids, the companies put a "noise maker" in the engine compartment to alert pedestrians. The outside noise of the Lexus sounded just like the Avalon.
The only time I hear a higher noise level is when I put the Lexus in Sport mode and accelerate. As far as interior noise levels, with the Lexus, bringing up the fan speed does increase cabin noise somewhat, but it is what you would expect.
My tire pressure is at 34lbs with the 17" wheels.
I do have extensive comments regarding both the Enform and Entune packages, but I will hold them for another post.
I will mention that when I ordered my Lexus in December, I wanted ALL options, however, they told me that their would be an extensive wait for the Mark Levinson, collision avoidance and lane change options. I really wanted these, however, I wasn't willing to wait the extra few months!
We leased these vehicles and I expect that not only will I be able to get these options in three years time, but also (possibly!) autonomous driving, traffic sign recognition and who knows what else?!

In the 2015 Lexus ES300H, there is ample room to run a power cable out of the center console without crushing the wire.
My wife's 2015 Avalon ES has several power outlets, easily available in the front, center "cubby". There are two cigar plugs and one USB. I have A QI plate in the Avalon, which allows me to toss my Smartphone (Nokia Lumia 1020) into the cubby for charging.

In three years' time the car will drive itself and you can stay home!
When I got mine, I brought "the list" of fully loaded options I wanted and he said I'd have to wait six months to order that. [Many] years ago I only had to wait about two months to get a special order. BUT...the more features and the more combinations make it more difficult to obtain quickly. Luckily, they had the exact car with RS wipers and LDA--neither that I really wanted up front. However, I got a good deal 'cause I "couldn't get what I wanted". And in hindsight, both RS and LDA are nice to have. RS works well and LDA for long trips on the Interstate and safety.

Yea, this is a big sticking point for me. I think the front of the avalon is plain ugly.
The must haves are blind spot, maybe oarking assist. I reakly want lane departure and pre collision. I can live without navigation easily, prefer an external unit. Other things i want arexadd ons. Leather is a must. Not sure of the difference in premium and luxury pkg seats? Salesman is new, dies not know much. I am off fot a 2 month visit to my wife's apRtment in Brasil. When i come back i will find a salesrep that is knowledgeable. Took this one 3 days to get back to me with MSRP, heck, i know MSRP. I need someone who can give me approximate cost so we can start to work together. This guy tells me, well we have to start the paper work before we can do that... Not with me, I was in sales fir over 30 years, i know how these things work. So in 2 months i will do a deal, would have liked to have an order in before i left but as there is a rumored 2016 redesign maybe waiting will be cost effective.

He never completed the full list of options. He cannot negotiate without his manager at his side. More complicated than i described.
That's what I was thinking, and my 2015 Subaru Outback LTD with only 2,500 miles on it will not go down much in trade value. It will be garaged for 2 months and will be as it is today. I may have to settle for leaving some options off and taking an in-stock model, I wonder if they look at other dealers to see if they can find you a car like what you are looking for? The Salesman I was working with talked about special order, never approached me about finding me a car, so I am not sure if Lexus dealers try to avoid this or not.
