This is my first post, so hi CL community.

I've been having trouble with my middle console on my 97 es300. It all started when I lost something rather important under the console (it fell through the cupholder part). This was before I knew about the access panel inside the middle console and I ended up taking all the screws out of the side of the console as well as taking out the wooden plate by the gear shifter to reach the said object. When I put everything back together the bottom section of the console would not latch. The latch just doesnt catch where it's suppose to go anymore. There is nothing wrong with the plastic latch but I think something is out of alignment because it just won't latch anymore! I can get it to temporarily shut by pushing the latch in but as soon as I hit a bump or something it comes right up! Please help, as this is the biggest distraction ever when I'm driving and I'm afraid it'll cause me to wreck (it happens every 5 minutes or more). I've taken apart everything and reasembled it two more times to see if it would just fix itself somehow, but I've had no success.
