Your 1998 es300 is OBD 2 compliant, so any OBD 2 compliant code reader will work with your car.

What exactly are you doing, and what's not working?

I can't speak for other models, but those particular models are known to be totally unreliable. They either dont work straight out of the box, or fail shortly thereafter. Do a google search. There are also numerous issues with the supplied software. So at minimum you'll need to purchase a better software for that particular model.

If you can, get your money back and buy a traditional OBD-2 code reader, or scanner.

I bought this one for $22 last year. Works great with Torque. Even though my bluetooth was on, it needed standalone GPS services on as well to connect. Let us know.
