Exclamation Check engine light turns off

I have a 94 es300. I was driving one day and out of nowhere engine died as if I ran out of gas. I replaced fuel filter and fuel pump and car worked for a week to only die again. I checked all my spark plugs and they r all getting spark. I have fuel pressure up front. My check engine light had always been on and it only reads one code. Nothing serious. Well I noticed my check engine light will go away then car dies and will crank but won't turn on until the check engine light shows up on the dash. I checked all my ignition wires and replaced all relays and fuses. It seems to do it whenever it wants to. Please help. Has this happened to anyone.

Infant remember what code it was but it had something to do with fuel recirculation. My mechanic and autozone said the code isn't my problem. It's been a week since the check engine has come back on and car hasn't started since nothing is when the check engine light disappears and the obdII doesn't read the car. As if I didn't have it connected to a car. I have no idea what to do next. New ecu?
