Not knowing the year of your vehicle, I'll take a guess that the procedure is as follows:
* Put odometer in odometer mode (not Trip A or B).
* Turn the car off, pull the key out
* Hold the odometer button
* Insert key, turn ignition on while holding the button down. Observe as the odometer displays a row of hyphens, which will count down, then flash back to odometer mode.
No more annoying maintenance light.
