Door locks clicking!!!
Ok, weird issue but maybe simple for someone to solve.
I rewired my trunk button directly off the switch with my own wire back to the trunk lock mechanism (I clipped the wire going into the mechanism clip and ran my own wire to this clip so I could just plug it in). I also clipped the power wire at the switch and jumped power off the gas lid button. Everything works wonderfully now, the trunk pops just like it should (hasn't worked in years). Now here is the issue, now all of a sudden the door locks cycle twice whenever I open the door with the key on. They click twice whenever I first start the car in the morning. All the door locks still work as they always have. I wonder if the security system is detecting the trunk is not in the loop anymore and is freaking out a bit.
I was thinking of splicing the wire I cut that went to the trunk mechanism back into the wire I ran to the mechanism. That might satisfy the security system, but who knows.
Any ideas??

Why would you rewire it instead of fixing it to work like it should?
Anyways not sure what year ES you have, so I'll speak generally, the system does seem to know if the trunk is open or not, e.g. it will keep the headlights on until after you close the trunk. Though its not part of the lock circuit, there is no door lock per se on the trunk lid. There are position sensors on each door lock, if a lock was stuck the body computer would repeatedly try to lock or unlock it...perhaps your re-wiring messed with that.
Really if you get to re-wiring stuff on your own, you are on your own to figure it out. You could get the service manual wiring diagram and get to it, or return the wiring to the way it was and see if the problem is goes away, then fix the trunk popper properly. I hope the problem wasn't simply the trunk popper disable switch in the glove box was engaged!

No, this is a common problem with the ES300. Mine is a 93 and the reason I rewired it was because I have a broken wire somewhere that I cannot find. It was simpler to just run my own power wire back to the latch. I had bypassed the valet switch in the glove box as well to take it out of the equation before I ran my wires. I will mess with it some more and figure out what it is doing. Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as I have seen others bypass the wiring as well with their own to get it working. The great thing about this forum is that you are encouraged to experiment with things or find a new fix. You are never on your own, there are some really smart experienced people out there!!
Gotcha I didn't know it was a common problem.
information sharing is great I am just saying that if you get the wiring diagram and take a look yourself you might figure out the answer rather than just posting and hoping. It is def cool that people here help as much as they can.
