Unhappy overdrive light

i have a 94 es300, the problem is my O/D off light start blinking, follow by the engine check light on, i had it cleared off by pull off the battery cable, but after that, the trans wont shift to 2nd gare untill the RPM goes to 4000, when it finally shift up, the lights gon on again, i had to clear that off again by doing the seam thing, after that, it go on again twice that day, but OD off light not blinking for long(only for few second), and the engine check ligh stays on, then i clear that twice, now its seem ok, light never back on. but it alway bothers me.(the light may back on anytime??) i did check the trans fluid level, its way higher then it should be, is there anyone know what kind problem is that???

Your tranny might be on it's way out. The car won't upshift cause it is safe, limp home mode. Not good, call your mechanic.

If a warning light comes on, the car is trying to tell you something.
Pull (or have your mechanic do it) the trouble code to find out what the problem is. Just clearing the code by pulling off the battery cable doesn't solve the initial problem that caused the light to come on.

It may be as simple as a torque converter clutch solenoid
