Default Steering Rack Bushings

Hey everyone... I have a 1996 ES300 with 192k miles on it. I took it in last week to get an alignment done. The mechanic told me that half way through the alignment, they noticed the steering rack was moving 1/4" in either direction and tole me my steering rack mount bushings were shot. My question is, are these easy to replace, and if so, has anyone done this before? Or should I shell out the $145 to have this done? Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the help on this site!!

Wut ^ nicks88 , 4 starters u gonna definetly wanna buy the parts yourself , if not the dealer or yor mechanic is gonna tax u for tha part , I got mine on ebay 39 bucks. just search steering rack bushings on ebay then narrow the search to the make and model of yur Lex, I just got my bushings yesterday and havn't attempted the install yet but my regular mechanic says this is DEF. a DIY no speacial tools or anything he told me the hardest part is actually tryin to locate them to replace but when u do its unscrew, pop out the old ones then pop in the new ones, I'll make a thread when I do mines aight? hope that helps............ later.

Hey kamelano. Thanks for the advice. I just purchased mine on ebay after reading your post. I love DIY projects. I would love any advice on what you discover when you do yours. I do appreciate your help on this. Thank you so much. I owe you one. Keep in touch.
