Default whistling under load

I've been noticing this and was curious if anyone else has the same thing.

When accelerating usually from a stop and more noticeable when cold, I hear a whistling that seems to correspond to engine speed. If the engine isn't under load, i.e. idling or cruising, I don't hear it. It seems to be coming from the front driver's side somewhere, I haven't had a chance to get under the hood and see if there's a leaky coupler in the airbox or something to that effect.

Doesn't affect driveability, just kinda odd.

Not an expert, but I would be thinking a pulley on something.........That would be my first guess. I wouldn't imagine that you would be hearing intake noise to the tune of a whistle on a naturally aspirated car......especially on the ES being as quiet of a cabin as it has a reputation of having.......but again, not an expert.

nah pulleys wouldn't whistle I don't think. It's got a quiet cabin, but I can still hear engine noise pretty good for the most part. It's either air related or electronic...seems to only come in around 2k-2500rpms.

My car went in for a coil and 6 plugs, which required removing the intake manifold. I noticed that now, after that was done, I don't have the whistle anymore. I'd say that since it goes away at temp, that's the metal and plastic expanding and sealing a leak at the base of the intake manifold. Pull it and either get a new gasket or seal it with silicone gasket maker. Also check your intake pipes from the airbox back to make sure they're not leaking.
