Default Headlight toothpaste fix

I had some oxidation on my front lenses not yellowing requiring sandpaper but just some slight weathering over the years. I saw online rather than purchasing a kit for 20-50 bucks that people were using 'toothpaste' I chose a whitening paste because of it's abrasive texture. Also key is using paste and not gel. Very pleased with the outcome...pictures to follow

Does your car have a minty smell to it now?

I have been using that trick for years but it takes out minor scratches in my watch crystals too...

Polishing compound works too. Meguiars has a good scratch removal paste. Then use a good polish wax after.

March 2012 Consumer Reports product testing.
They recommended:
Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit ($21); and
3M Headlight Lens Restoration System 29008 ($15).

Sometimes it is better to order new, replacement lenses off e-bay motors.com if the fading
off color is too bad.

I wanted to try the toothpaste trick, so I did on my 2004 Ford Taurus a few days ago, it really works, but I do not think I will try shade tree restoration on a $40,000 car

I'm a big fan of the Meguiars kit... comes with 1000 grit, 3000 grit, polishing compound, a buffer that can be fitted to most drills, and a protectant...

love it, even takes scratches out of paint...
