Why hasn't the ES gone AWD?

Do ES350 folks in snowy areas get away without having to change to snow tires? the FWD is that good?

My guess is that since the ES350 is Camry based and the Camry isn't available with AWD, no AWD yet for the ES. Maybe some time in the future.

I live in IL and have found that FWD with TRAC, VSC and all season tires works well in the winter. AWD would no doubt be better but no complaints so far.

AWD costs more and weighs more which results in lower gas mileage. Unless you live in areas that get extremely heavy snowfalls (not Jersey) it is completely unnecessary for normal on-road driving.

Exactly!
Since I was 16, every car I've owned has had snow tires on the stock rims and fancy rims with quieter threaded tires for the summer months.
