Default Rain Sensing Wipers?

Just wondering if a 2002 ES300 had the option for rain sensing wipers? I have an 02 that I don't drive much (once a month if that). This past week I drove it when it was raining and I noticed there was an auto position on the wiper stalk. Sure enough they started going at various speeds as the rain fell harder. I looked up to the rear view mirror and there also looks to be some sensors similar to those in my IS350 that has the rain sensing wipers. When I got home I dug out the original window sticker for the car and no where did it say rain sensing wipers, even under the option packages my car has. It seems pretty obvious that my car has them, just wondering why I can't find any info. The window sticker for my IS350 states that it has rain sensing wipers. Any input would be appreciated.

Could be explained in the Owner's Manual.

My car has them, I hate them. They don't wipe when I need them to, and then they don't stop after the windshield is completely clear.

Some work better than others -- when they work well I really like them.

Some have reported that if the windshield has been replaced the sensor may not have been properly set in place - this can cause them to function erratically

I've read the owner's manual, made sure I was using them correctly. Pretty sure my windshield is factory original, it does have the Lexus tatoos on it. Nothing in the past maint records about it ever being replaced.

A light mist rain like we're having today is the worst, it's maddening. They refuse to wipe when I need them to. Then when they finally kick off and wipe, they don't stop, I have to turn them off manually. Then the process starts over.

I just wish they had also allowed a set delay override position. Nice try Lexus, but these things suck.
