Hey, new to Lexus Club but have been on Ferrari Chat Forum which is similar to this forum so I am familiar to searching. I was unable to find anything on 02 mounts, just older gen 1's.
My wifes es is needing atleast the passenger side mount. Where are the other two (dogbone and lower?) Im thinking Im just going to do dogbone and side as they are easier....
Anyway:
1. Where is the cheapest spot to get them as Im finding them for like 110-180 a piece.
2. Any tips from anyone whos done this?
3. Normally dogbone is very easy to spot but I dont see it...
The Dogbone is on the Pass side strut tower. You won;t even need to support the engine in any way to change that one. ust have the car on a flat surface. The front one under the front exhaust manifold, you'll have to support the engine. I'm actually doing on on my friends V6 Solara tomorrow (same engine basically, just the porevious car style, equivalent to the 97-01 ES). Easiest is to jack it up on the oil pan (with a piece of wood of course). Even using the stock jack is fine. Try to slightly loosen the bolts before you start to raise the engine.
The rear mount and lower side mount I've not dealt with yet. I normally work on the older V6's of which those are completely different.
There are many dealer online that have 20% off LIST prices, which for big dollar item's, can add up to a lot.

How can u tell if the front mount needs replacing?
If your over 100k miles, there is a good chance it needs it. One way to tell when it is 100% dead is when you hit the gas and you hear a clunk. It;s often the front motor mount (under exhaust header) thats bad for the 92-01's. I still haven't gotten much into the 02+'s.
Yeah, that's what I'm getting is a clunk when accelerating. With hood open I can see engine shift way too much when going from reverse to drive with foot on brake. I don't even have to move to see engine shifting maybe 2 inches.
So I'm clear, the 2002 es has one on the passenger strut that is clearly visible and another on in front of the engine.....near radiator?
The third one I don't want to have to do bc its a pita....just hope its ok.

To check like I did, open hood and shift from toward to reverse. Have someone look at engine while doing this and see if the engine moves more than a little, say .5 inch?
You can see motor mount on pas strut and it should only move a hair. When I saw my engine shift in bay I was shocked.
